Grok Light Sync: What It Is

Grok Light Sync integrates Tesla's Grok AI assistant with the vehicle's ambient interior lighting system.

How to Enable Grok Light Sync

Controls → Lights → Ambient Lighting → Grok Sync

Requires ambient lighting hardware — available on 2024+ Model 3, Model Y Juniper, Model S/X Refresh, and Cybertruck.

Why You Haven't Received the Update

Common reasons your Tesla may not have 2025.8.4 yet:

  • WiFi connected overnight?

Tesla prioritizes wifi-connected vehicles for updates.

  • Update preference set to "Advanced"?

Controls → Software → Software Update Preference

  • HW version?

HW4 vehicles receive updates first, then HW3, then HW2.5.

  • Geographic region?

US rollouts typically lead international markets.

How to Install a Pending Update

  1. 1
    Check update availability

Controls → Software — see what's included and estimated install time.

  2. 2
    Schedule or install now

"Install Now" begins immediately (car must be in Park). Schedule for overnight is recommended.

  3. 3
    Wait for installation

Screens go dark, car is not operable for 5–15 minutes. Do not attempt to drive.

  4. 4
    Car reboots

All settings are preserved. Some features may need one-time reconfiguration.
